Warmcel is a British product made from 100% recycled newspapers and treated with Boron Salts (found naturally in the soil) which gives it excellent fire resistance and makes it unattractive to insects and vermin. It has been manufactured by Excel Industries for over 25 years and installed in over one million homes in the UK alone. It has a proven track record of exceptional thermal performance, air tightness, sound absorption and excellent hygroscopic qualities. It comes to us in bales of loose fibre, which we put into a specialist aerating and blowing machine on site. Thermafleece is also a completely British product with excellent environmental credentials. It encourages rural regeneration by providing a market for lower grade fleeces and is a renewable resource, uses low embodied energy to produce and is biodegradable. Thermafleece is also treated with boron salts making it unattractive to moths and vermin and adding to its fire resistance.
Wool itself is quite a unique material! In a burnt out house that had been insulated with Thermafleece it was found that the wool had actually prevented the spread of the fire in places. Completely unique to wool is its ability to neutralise indoor pollutants such as formaldehyde within its protein building blocks.
Wool also has excellent hygroscopic qualities allowing it to absorb and release water vapour, creating a naturally breathable environment. Wool is cool in summer and warm in winter.
